So first thing is first, if it comes out on Steam on June 5th, every single purchase till the 5th of June would be considered as a Pre-order? – Yes, that is correct and as always the Devs as a “Thank You” will include some exclusive items for you!
Let’s dive into Vampyr and I’ll tell you why am I so excited for this game!
Genre: Action, RPG
Developer: DONTNOD Entertainment
Publisher: Focus Home Interactive

To get all the pre-order, trailer and release date details out the way, here is the trailer:
How much did you get out of that? – Not a LOT I guess :D.
Well it is a good thing that my friend (a much bigger streamer than me, who shall remain nameless) was able to hook me up with his “Demo”/first look whatever you wanna call it – game content.
I will try not give too much away (well I can’t really because, i was only fortunate enough to play the game for couple of hours or so), but be aware that there might be some spoilers in this post!
So my overview of the couple of hours I was fortunate enough to play Vampyr!
If you are a Twilight fan that is thinking OMG! the Twilight game is out #TeamJacob, this is not going to be it, Thank God.
You are a doctor by the name of J. Reid in the early-20th century London, plagued by the spanish flu.
After waking up from what you could probably only have described as the world’s worst hangover, you soon realize that the couple of Jagers you had before bedtime are not the issue here. You have been turned into a Vampire!
It will be a constant battle between your wows as a Doctor to protect the living or your primal instincts as a Vampire to feed on blood!
Not long after, you already start to feel the effects of hunger and have some awesome Emo phrases like: “Have the very streets of London become a mausoleum?” or “What is life but death pending?”
Devs say that they tried to re-create a 1918’s London, by doing research, watching documentaries and consulting history books, as I’ve never been in 1918’s London, I still believe they did amazing to create a “real feel” of those times!
The game will consist of Semi-open World, which you get to explore and influence! Explore the darkly atmospheric streets of early 20th century London, and interact with a multitude of characters with their own identities and importance.
Absolutely all characters in the game are potential victims of your vampiric lust. Feeding on your prey will not just be some “button mashing” you will carefully have to study the habits of your victim, his or her relationships with other characters, and set up your strategy to feed, unnoticed: seduce them, change their daily habits, or make sure they end up alone in a dark street.
If you are planning a home invasion, you’ll be only allowed to enter the victims house if you are invited in!
Be careful who you choose to hunt, as they will be gone forever, and their death will impact in a meaningful way the world that surrounds you. Feeding on human blood will not just keep you ‘alive;’ it will also unlock new vampiric powers to use.
Don’t forget you won’t be the only one doing the Hunting! Don’t want to give away too much here, just don’t think you will be the only one doing the hunting and growing stronger – vampires and vampire hunters will be found all over the city!
The game as said before will be full of morale choices and you will have to decide if you want stay on the side of Light and good as a Doctor, who saves lives and does no harm or give in the Vampiric Dark side and grow stronger
as a vampire!
The Devs have said, that it is possible to complete the game without ever killing anyone! Which brings me to my next point: Unique difficulty – the games difficulty is all upon you as you feed more and enter the dark side slowly losing touch with your human side and turning into a monster – the easier the game will be – because of your powers!
The Side of Light as a Doctor will be the hardest road to beat the game and will rely you to depend on your skill as most exp. is gathered by killing NPC characters and drinking their blood!
Don’t get to carried away with just mindlessly killing NPC as you will lose some side missions and over killing in one district might be a cause to lose this district forever. If anything like that would ever happen all the remaining alive NPCs will be reported missing and the district will serve of no value to you anymore!
One of the coolest mechanics in the game must be that the “World” will decay and change to reflect the state of its inhabitants!
Weapons and abilities:
You will be able to use way more then just your fangs and claws there will also be a selection of melee weapons and ranged weapons! Abilities will allow you to be temporarly turn invisible or hide your presence in the shadows! (Don’t want to give too much away here – the fun is customizing these skills and upgrading your weapons to your gameplay!)
A skill tree will also be available:
Shadow – for stealth
Instinct – Combat and Vampire abilities will enhance
Social – will increase social skills!
Also if you will like, you will be able to avoid 85-90% of battles if you don’t feel like it, but mini bosses and bosses fights will not be avoidable! This will tie into the ongoing dillemma of killing someone and leveling up or rely on your skill and do it the hard way!
I haven’t been this excited about a game since Witcher 3!
Vampyr will be a very heavy featured game on my Caffeine broadcasts! (details below).
I’ll start playing this game on broadcast somewhere around 10th of June! – Follow me on twitter to not miss out!
It is rumored that the game ultimately will have 4 different endings – so that adds a very large “+” to replay value
– Beautiful Setting
– Custom made NPCs and Bosses
– Game delivers! You constantly feel good/bad about the choices you have made!
– Unique difficulty mechanic
– Great voice acting, rich story
– I don’t have it yet 🙁
If someone wants to hook me up with the game before the 10th of June, I will forever be in your debt!
I will happily accept this gift on steam
